Camel snus is marketed and produced by under contract by JIT (Japan Tobacco International).
Camel snus is a spitless (as opposed to chewing tobacco) and smokeless tobacco (as opposed to cigarettes) product derived from traditional swedish snus which is a moist, ground tobacco contined in a pouch (often called a portion) which is placed under your upper lip. For in depth information and on how to use snus see "What is Swedish Snus"
Camel snus was first launched in 2006 as a response to the growing popularity of swedish snus in many parts of the world. It's health benefits (read more about snus and health) versus cigarettes as well as the low pricing has made snus incrisingly popular through out the world. It is primarlity marketed to consumers wanting to quit smoking.
Within the snus community Camel is seen as an interesting "newcomer" (albeit a newcomer with enormous marketing resources) on the scene and the products have recieved decent reviews from long time "snusers" allthough many agree that they still have a lot to learn before being able to match the older swedish brands and their +200 years experience producing snus.
JTI currently markets two different forms of Camel snus - Camel Portion and Camel White Portion. They have as of yet not declared any interest in adding any loose snus to it's lineup.
